National Bike Month

Two weeks ago, my husband bought me a commuter bike and since then I have been riding it everywhere! I love it! On Monday, we drove to Columbus to go to the Performance Bike shop to get a good helmet, a seat, and a lock. I prefer less chafing and a wider seat for comfort. We had a blast shopping and drooling over all the other cool things to get later; such as a trunk rack, seat post rack to hold baskets to get groceries in, and a bike and helmet for my husband too.

This morning, I was grateful that I have a bike to use. Our vehicle's brakes have not been functioning very well. We decided to take our vehicle into the local auto repair shop. My husband had to be at work at 7AM this morning. I dropped him off then drove back home to grab my bike so I could bike home after dropping the car off at the repair shop by 8AM. The repairman did not know how long it was going to take to find the problem and repair it. I am so glad that I decided to grab my bike and ride home. It was a beautiful morning and the mileage was not bad - 7.7 miles. Then I biked some more!

Thinking of bikes, this month (May) is National Bike Month. Cool huh? Also, May 16-20 is BIKE to WORK week. On the 19th, where I teach, I have professional development training. I will bike there!

Countdown to Half Marathon!

Today is Wednesday. That means there are only 3 more days until I leave with my husband and friend (who is also running with me) to Cleveland, OH to run in the Cleveland Half Marathon! I am getting more excited!

Joys of Womanhood

To all mothers, daughters, sisters, and wives:

What an amazing day to celebrate our divine worth and potential as women! I believe that Mother's Day is not only for mothers who have children, but for ALL WOMEN. It is a day to reflect on the glorious opportunities that we have available to us to brighten, comfort, share, and listen to each other. It is a time to be grateful for the women in our lives that have guided us through our journey of embracing what it means to be a woman. Without my mother, grandmother, sisters and other women in my life, I would not know how vitally important it is to carry on a legacy of faith, virtue, wisdom, and beauty. I will be forever grateful to them. Thank You!

Please take the time today to embrace being a woman who is of great worth!

School is OUT!

As an educator, these words could not be so welcoming or exciting :) It has been a challenging but rewarding school year. I have learned so much about myself this year. It feels good to know that I have completed two years of teaching and wonder if I will continue to teach for another 30 years. I am grateful that I will be returning next year with the same school district. I have all summer -in fact, four whole months to get ready for the next school year. I will embrace these next few months!

(In case you are wondering, the school district I teach in is building a new k-12 school. Therefore, we started in early August to get out early May so that we can move into the new building next year in September. The progress on the new school is amazing - can't wait!)
